Same Old Same Old Summer Fun

This year Kaitlyn really took off with her swimming. She is so comfortable in the water that she hardly ever uses any of her floats, jumps off the diving board at birthday parties, and helps me try to teach Evan how to swim: together, point, shoot is our mantra. Instead of signing Evan up for swim lessons, I decided I'd give it a try. Over the course of the summer, he has gotten better...marginally. But I'm gonna keep at it, and we'll see how it goes this summer and next.

More important (to him) are things like trucks and buckets as you can see from these conversation excerpts I've had with him: "Mama, are you going to buy me another truck?" "I just bought you a new truck. You have it right there in your hand." Raising the empty hand, "I know, but this hand needs one." Or this, in response to the typical "what did you do at school today" question: "I had a bucket on my head and the shovel was my sword so the bear wouldn't get me."
