One thing we've noticed about Evan over the past month or so is that if he wants something, he is going to do his best to take it. While I believe it is good to go after what you want, he seems to be able to take toys, etc. from kids twice his size. He usually isn't very gentle about it either, though he is grinning the whole time. Hopefully we'll be able to teach him some restraint once he gets old enough to know what we are talking about. Though it isn't a real kid, you can see an example below and his reaction when he is caught in the act.

Memorial Day Weekend
Though we didn't go anywhere for Memorial Day and it rained as usual for a good portion of the weekend, we still enjoyed it. Kaitlyn and her Mama gave Gus a much needed bath, we cooked out a couple of times, and Amanda took Evan to Laura and Owen's to visit because Ginny and Jerry were in town.
We had all intentions of going swimming Monday afternoon and even got dressed in our swimsuits, but it didn't come together. We settled for playing in the sprinkler. Kaitlyn was timid at first, but she finally decided running through the sprinkler was a fun thing. She did stop at one point and ask me to "turn the warm on." Evan didn't care too much for us running though the sprinkler, but I think he would have enjoyed it more had I been able to turn the warm on as well.

Free at Last!
Well, it's on now! I'm sure everybody was sitting by their computer anxiously waiting for the clip of Evan telling everyone how much he likes his Dada, but I have one even better. Though he has been making a little progress with a step here and there over the past week or so, he put it all together today. So watch out folks, Evan is crawling!

Dada
Well, it's official. Evan said Dada yesterday, a day before he turned nine months. I also had a witness. On the way home from daycare, he was talking his normal language (yayaya). I asked Kaitlyn if he said Dada because I had been working with him on it. She informed me that no, he said yaya. As if on cue, Evan promptly responded with a Dada, and I think Kaitlyn got about as excited as I did. He later demonstrated his new vocabulary for his mom that evening. She was mostly happy about it, but I think I noticed a tinge of jealousy too. I will try to get a video clip and add it so you can judge for yourself... the Dada, not the jealously.
In other news, Kaitlyn attended three parties this past Saturday morning. The first was a late birthday party for her classmate, Sharp, and that was immediately followed by one for the Carmean girls. She wrapped up the morning at a baby shower for her godmother. I couldn't go because I had to drive to Memphis to pick up our computer that had been repaired. This would be where I added all the photos from the events, but Amanda didn't take any. I know what you are thinking, but she isn't really a terrible mom. She did also have Evan for the first two parties.
